As we continue to develop the Maine Crochet Coral Reef project we are looking for people to start creative social groups to work on the Reef project. We have two groups so far who are just starting up.
Karen Cornell, staff member of the Fiber Center at the Fryeburg Fair lives in Anson, Maine and has a group of enthusiastic ladies who have begun creating reef pieces. Karen is spearheading that rural group and working out the details. They expect to meet one on one and occasionally as a group. Karen will act as teacher and mentor and will collect the work as it is completed.
Ann Thompson our liaison and important project networker is getting a group going in the S Portland area. Several of her acquaintances through MCA and other associations are excited about the project.
If you would like to join either of these groups or would like to start a group of your own, please let us know.
Get involved and have fun!
Hi- I'm am the Brooksville Elementary School Art teacher (near the coast in Hancock County)and we are planning to start working on some coral (while learning more about coral reefs)in January. Community members are coming in to help the younger students learn how to crochet. I'm pretty excited about this project and look forward to getting started. We would love any advice or thoughts you could give us!
